Privacy Policy

How NEXTARI processes personal data under the GDPR. Last updated: October 2026.

This policy explains what personal data NEXTARI (Nextari GmbH) collects, why, on what legal basis, and the rights you have. NEXTARI is built privacy-first: we will never sell who you are, and advertising never influences rankings, matches or recommendations.

1. Controller

Nextari GmbH, Plauener Str. 163-165, 13053 Berlin, Germany, hello@nextari.gg. For data protection questions, contact hello@nextari.gg.

2. What we process

  • Account data, username, email, password (hashed), profile details you provide.
  • Usage data, which collections you follow, reactions, matchmaking preferences. We do not keep an access log and store no device fingerprint; your IP address is held in memory only, briefly, to rate-limit abuse, and is never written to our database.
  • Linked-platform signals, if you connect Steam/Epic/others, the public signals needed to build your connected profile. We link and aggregate; we never take over your purchases.
  • Cookies, see our cookie settings.

3. Purposes & legal bases (Art. 6 GDPR)

  • Providing the service and your account. Art. 6(1)(b) (contract).
  • Bias-free matchmaking, feed and recommendations. Art. 6(1)(b)/(f) (legitimate interest in a useful, fair product).
  • Security, abuse prevention, moderation. Art. 6(1)(f).
  • Optional analytics and labeled advertising. Art. 6(1)(a) (your consent, withdrawable any time).

Purpose limitation is enforced by the system itself, not only by policy. Every event we store carries the purposes it may be used for, and every read has to name the purpose it is for. A read that names no purpose, or an unknown one, is refused instead of quietly returning a smaller answer. We use exactly four purposes:

  • discovery · what to show you and in which order.
  • matchmaking · finding people, squads and sessions that fit you.
  • commerce · offers and prices, including purchase intent.
  • b2b_aggregat · aggregated audience figures for brands and partners. Aggregated only: it never leaves this platform as a person.

Today NEXTARI is our only product, so nothing is shared between products. Should we add one, we will ask for your consent separately for each purpose above, and you will be able to narrow or withdraw it as easily as you gave it. Events taken over from another product stay marked as external and never count as your own signals here.

4. Advertising & ranking

Ads on NEXTARI are always labeled and never affect how games are ranked, matched or recommended. We do not build hidden advertising profiles that change your results. Sponsored content is clearly marked.

5. Recipients & transfers

Hosting is in the European Union. We use processors (e.g. hosting, email, optional analytics) under Art. 28 GDPR data processing agreements. Where a transfer outside the EU/EEA is unavoidable, we rely on EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Retention

We keep account data for as long as your account exists and delete or anonymise it afterwards, unless legal retention periods apply.

Interest signals lose weight over time by design: a standard signal halves its weight after seven days, an explicit rejection after thirty. Old entries therefore fade in influence before they are removed.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection (Art. 15-21 GDPR), to withdraw consent at any time, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection). Contact: hello@nextari.gg.

8. Hosting & server logs

Our hosting provider processes technical access data (IP address, timestamp, requested resource, user agent) in server logs to deliver the site securely (Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR). Logs are deleted or anonymized after a short rotation period. Hosting is located in the EU.

9. Local storage on your device (§ 25 TDDDG)

NEXTARI stores settings in your browser’s local storage (for example your status, widget layout and consent choice). This storage is strictly necessary to provide the service you request and therefore does not require consent (§ 25 (2) TDDDG). We do not use tracking cookies. A full list is on the cookie settings page.

10. Embedded third-party content

Video and audio players from Twitch (Twitch Interactive), YouTube (Google Ireland) and links to Spotify load only after you actively click them. When you do, those providers process your IP address and may set their own cookies; data may be transferred to the USA on the basis of the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or standard contractual clauses.

Images load as soon as a page opens, and that is a connection to the provider serving them. There is no way around it for an image that lives on someone else’s server, so we say it plainly instead of implying otherwise. Measured across every page of this preview:

  • Game artwork from Valve’s content network (cdn.cloudflare.steamstatic.com, shared.steamstatic.com), on the games and store pages.
  • Channel and profile pictures from Twitch (static-cdn.jtvnw.net), on most pages that show people or channels.
  • Video thumbnails from YouTube (i.ytimg.com, Google), on the pages that list videos.
  • Product images from Shopify (cdn.shopify.com), in merch rows and in the Creator Studio.
  • Occasional reference images from Fandom (static.wikia.nocookie.net).
  • Partner logos from the partner’s own domain, currently LVL Berlin (lvl.global), on the games page.

These requests carry your IP address and the address of the page you are on to those providers. They set no cookies for us and we receive nothing back about you. We are working on serving these images from our own servers, which removes the connection entirely; until then the list above is the honest state.

11. Payments

We do not process payments. Nothing is sold through NEXTARI, no payment data is collected by us, and no payment provider receives data about you from us. Where you buy something you found here, you buy it at the store, shop or host you are handed over to, under their terms. If that changes, this section will name the provider and its role before any payment is possible.

12. Waitlist e-mails

If you join our waitlist, your email address is processed via Mailjet (Sinch, EU servers) to send you launch information (Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time.

13. Children and young people

NEXTARI is open from the age of 16. Under 16, consent has to come from a parent or guardian (Art. 8 GDPR; Germany did not lower the limit). When you set up your account we ask whether you are 16 or older, before anything is connected. Answering “no” does not lock you out of NEXTARI: it switches off the platform connections, because those are the part that needs the consent. If we learn that we hold data of a child without that consent, we delete it. Write to hello@nextari.gg and we will act on it.

14. Supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BlnBDI), Alt-Moabit 59–61, 10555 Berlin.

15. Automated decision-making and profiling

We build an interest profile from your own signals, and we say so rather than hiding it behind a word: what you follow, wishlist, rate or play gives an entry a weight, and that weight decides the order of your recommendations. Each signal carries the purposes it may serve, halves in weight after seven days, and you can see and remove it. Paid placement never enters this order.

What we do not do is automated decision-making that produces legal effects or similarly significant consequences for you (Art. 22 GDPR). You can object to profiling for recommendations at any time (Art. 21 GDPR) and keep using NEXTARI.
